Okay, so I know that quinoa (KEEN-wah) sounds funny—but I can almost promise that you really don’t need to be an adventurous eater to enjoy it.
Even though it’s technically a seed, when cooked, quinoa’s actually a lot like rice or pasta. Only it packs more nutrients—like calcium, iron, protein, Vitamin E, and some of the B Vitamins—and doesn’t leave you feeling quite so heavy or bloated.
And like rice or pasta, I wouldn’t recommend eating quinoa plain. But it’s an excellent side or base for a wide variety of dishes.
