At the St.Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence we strongly encourage our patients to surround themselves with a strong support network—both before and after weight loss surgery.
We certainly understand that finding a healthy and consistent support network can be easier for some patients than it is for others. So, we facilitate bariatric support groups all over Indiana for all of our patients. One of these particular groups is what we call our Newbee Support Group.
Patients who have weight loss surgery often need extra support in those first months post-op. And learning to make those new lifestyle changes is made easier by attending a support group dedicated just for those patients who are in their first three months of their weight loss journey.
The dietitians of the St.Vincent Carmel Bariatric Center of Excellence lead this monthly support group for new bariatric patients.
The dietitians present information on types of protein foods that are appropriate in the first weeks after surgery, how to read labels, and tips on maintaining an adequate liquid intake.
With years of experience working with patients who are significantly changing their eating habits, the dietitians also offer a great deal of psychological support and motivational encouragement for the challenges patients experience.
As an additional benefit to many Newbee groups, Chef Woody frequently joins the bariatric dietitians and shares recipes and practical information on bariatric friendly cooking.
Please join us from 6:30–7:30 pm on the 4th Wednesday of the month at the St.Vincent Carmel Bariatric Center of Excellence. You will have fun, fellowship, and learn lots about living a healthy new lifestyle!
Please note: beginning February 2015, we’ll be meeting on a new day and time. We will now meet from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the St.Vincent Carmel Bariatric Center of Excellence.
