The side effects can be jarring as your body adjusts but Bruce can tell you, the end results are well worth it.

I was always a chunky kiddo. I could look at an apple and gain five pounds. I remember being called “thunder thighs” pretty much all through childhood. I was always insecure about my body and have been all of over the map with weight and eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, and morbid obesity. I’ve felt very out of control with food most of my life but particularly the last . . . Continue reading →

Redefining A Passion For The Kitchen—And For Food
When you have weight loss surgery, you make some pretty significant changes in the way you eat and the way that you cook. And no one here at the St.Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence is saying that those are easy changes to make. But, at the same time, we’ll tell you that, while they’re not easy changes, they can still be fun and exciting. Of course, you don’t have to just take our word for it. Continue reading →
Weight Loss Photo Timeline With Kathy Evans
Kathy Evans had weight loss surgery at the St.Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence over ten years ago. And not only did she lose over 200 lbs, but she’s kept it off all this time, too. If you’re interested in learning more about weight loss surgery at the St.Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence, … Continue reading →
Bariatric Patients and Staff Participate In Inaugural Carmel Marathon
Earlier this summer, thirty representatives of the St.Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence participated in the inaugural Carmel Marathon Championship Weekend. These current and former patients, some of whom struggled to climb a flight of stairs only a year ago, walked and ran in the half marathon, 8k, and 1 mile events. Continue reading →
What To Expect Several Years After Bariatric Surgery
We’re constantly reminding our patients that weight loss surgery is the beginning of a new a journey that they’ll be on for the rest of their lives. And there are so many good things that come from bariatric surgery, but there are some struggles, too. And we prefer to be honest with our patients. There’ll be some tough times, but that’s the same reason why we provide support groups all over the state–no one should go through their journey alone. Continue reading →
